Capturing nature's beauty in giclée prints
Audubon’s giclee prints are truly magnificent. The colors come alive and the birds seem poised to take flight off the paper. Audubon, a self-taught artist, pushed the boundaries of his time with unparalleled technical skills that continue to captivate admirers today.
Audubon painted the birds in their natural habitat. To achieve this, he observed the birds extensively and maintained a detailed diary, recording everything about them, including those that have since become extinct or are threatened with extinction.
In 1833, Audubon’s son sold a complete set of “The Birds of America” to the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, Netherlands. The scanning of the originals took place under special conditions, and the colors of the giclée prints were compared to the original images. Each facsimile giclee print has every fine line detail and every delicate brushstroke.
